School Programs The Heritage Farm Museum is pleased to offer classes, programs, and guided tours. Our exhibits support the Virginia Standards of Learning and can accommodate studies in science, technology, history and social sciences. Programs last approximately one hour. INSTRUCTOR GUIDED PLAYTIME (Pre-K) Develop important social, motor, and cognitive skills though a farm- based play and story time. Designed for early learners. Can be added to other programs.  $3.50/Student Grandma’s Kitchen (Grades pre-K to 3)  Walk into grandma’s kitchen and explore life on the farm 100 years ago.  $5.00/Student FARMIN' FEVER (Grades pre-K-3) Be a “Farmer for a Day” as you learn farm chores and visit the Waxpool General Store.  $3.50/Student WEIGHTS AND MEASURES (Grades pre-K-3) Learn about volume, weight and relative measures in this interactive class for early learners.  $3.50/Student VOTE! (Grades pre-K-3) The Waxpool General Store was a polling place 100 years ago. Visit the store to practice the basics of voting and good citizenship. $3.50/Student HERD IT ON THE FARM (Grades pre-K – 2) Live-animal program teaches the basics of domestic animal care and the importance of livestock. Add an instructor guided playtime to enhance your visit. Seasonal.  $5.00/Student APPLES, APPLES, EVERYWHERE (Grades pre-K-2) Explore the wonders of the apple through songs, games, and hands-on activities. Press apples into cider and visit our historic barn. Seasonal.  $5.00/Student MEET THE FARMER        (Grades 1-3) Meet farmers past and present. Learn about Loudoun's agricultural products and Northern Virginia’s agricultural history. $3.50/Student TIME FOR CHANGE (Grades 1-3) Travel back to 1909 and visit the Waxpool General Store. Shop for groceries using Mr. Munday’s original price lists. Apply your knowledge of money in a real-life challenge in our gift shop. Includes take-home treat. $5.00/Student PLANT IT! (Grades 1-4) Be a scientist for a day in this unique interactive program all about plants. Explore, observe, and experiment in our gallery. Extend your class with take-home projects we provide.   $5.00/Student SIMPLE MACHINES         (Grades 3-5) Tour our gallery to discover applications of simple machines on the farm and apply your knowledge to a hands-on engineering project. Perfect review or introduction for simple machines classroom study.                       $3.50/Student HISTORY HOUNDS: BACK TO WAXPOOL (Grades 4-5) Travel back in time to Waxpool, VA in 1909 and “meet” the residents. Assume an identity and learn what your life would have been like 100 years ago!   $3.50/Student FARMERS AS SCIENTISTS (Grades 6-9) Farmers apply scientific knowledge to agriculture to improve production. Explore 250 years of agriculture in Virginia and learn about scientific discoveries that impact our lives today.  $5.00/Student HANDS ON HISTORY (Grades 4-6) Learn the fundamentals of archaeology, history, and museum practice. Includes behind-the-scenes tour and work with real objects from our collection.
