
The Heritage Farm Museum specializes in programs that support the
Virginia Standards of Learning and are designed to meet the needs
of schools, Scouts, home school families and mothers groups. Programs
are interactive and many include extensions or take-home components.
Maximize the value of your field trip by making a day of it at Claude

of study. The Museum can accommodate large groups with advanced notice.

SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND TOURS
Our exhibits support the Virginia Standards of Learning and can accommodate
studies in science, technology, history and social sciences.
FARMIN' FEVER
(Grades pre-K - K) Be a "farmer for a day" as you learn
about farm life, visit the Waxpool General Store and play in the children's
hands-on area.

(Grades K-2) Learn about volume, weight and relative units of measurement
through fun and games. Practice math skills and compete in a potato

products in Loudoun County during our hands-on gallery tour.

is an important part of everyone's life. Start now and learn the basics
of managing money. Class utilizes the Waxpool General Store and children's

SIMPLE MACHINES
(Grades 3-5) Introduction to the simple machines on a farm. Includes
short gallery tour and the opportunity to engineer your own farm machine
in our Farm Challenge project.

(Grades 4-6) Develop the fundamentals of archaeology, history, and
museum practice. Class extensions and projects available. Ask about

Seasonal Programs:
HERD IT ON THE FARM
(Grades K-2) Live-animals program that includes vocabulary building,
concept development and hands-on experiences. Offered seasonally in
the spring.
APPLES, APPLES EVERYWHERE!
(Grades K-2) Learn all about apples through story telling, games and
song. Lessons in history, science and language arts. Concludes by
making apple cider in a real historic cider press. Offered seasonally
September through October.
SCOUT PROGRAMS
Let our staff lead your Scouts through the requirements for various
badges. Leaders must accompany troops. Interactive, hands-on, supplemental
material included. Minimum fees apply. Call to schedule.
BROWNIES-LISTENING TO THE PAST
(Grades 1-3) When you listen to the past, what do you hear? Join us
to listen to stories about how people used to live and what children
did a long time ago. When you listen to people talk about the past,
you are participating in oral history. Document your own life and
learn how to listen to the histories of your friends and family. Class
utilizes LHFM galleries and exhibits. Includes a take-home project.

Heritage Farm Museum. Junior Girl Scout troops complete four of the
six requirements needed for the Local Lore badge during your class.
Includes a take-home project and the resources to complete all six
requirements.

(Grades 6-8) Learn about "Women Through Time." Girl Scouts
